Dear Residents of Brookview,
We are thrilled to announce the formation of a committee to transform the Brookview outdoor Ice rink into a Year-Round Recreation Park. This will be a larger community-driven initiative that aims to transform the old outdoor hockey rink area into a versatile year-round park catering to a variety of interests. This project embodies our commitment to building a vibrant space for everyone to enjoy. The proposed changes will offer an array of activities, including pickleball, basketball, ball hockey, outdoor exercise and fitness classes, event gatherings and of course outdoor ice skating during the winter months.
We believe that a Brookview Year-Round Recreation Park will serve as a hub for fostering connections, promoting active lifestyles, and bringing families and friends together. As we embark on this exciting journey, we invite you to share your ideas, suggestions, and support. Your input will be invaluable in shaping the future of the park and ensuring that it reflects the needs and desires of our tight-knit community. Stay tuned for updates on town hall meetings and opportunities to contribute.
Additionally, we are reaching out to our dedicated community members for a special initiative. We are seeking volunteers to help fix up the existing dilapidated rink over the weekend of September 30, 2023. It is simply not safe in its current state. Your assistance will ensure the rink remains functional for another season while we secure funding and finalize our plans for the exciting transformation ahead. Your participation can make a significant difference as we work together to create a space that embodies our shared vision. Let's come together and make this project a reality!
A special invitation to any construction specialists or contractors in our area who would like to meet with us for a pre-assessment in the next week or two to help determine the materials and labour requirements to get our rink back to an acceptable and safe level in the short term.
